SciCom Office signOur Mission

The Science Communication Group (SciCom) is a scientific editing resource available to UAMS investigators at no cost. Our mission is to:

  • Help investigators produce clear and concise writing to increase their chances of obtaining extramural research funding or publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Teach UAMS researchers grantsmanship and proposal development through mentoring, workshops, and presentations

What We Do and Whom We Serve

SciCom’s editorial services focus on effective, persuasive communication. Our top priority is to help investigators succeed in the highly competitive process of securing extramural grant funding, but we also support manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.

SciCom serves faculty investigators in all UAMS colleges, as well as organizations that partner with UAMS in research. Our team of seasoned editors offers a mentoring experience in NIH grantsmanship, particularly to those applying for their first grants, as well as to experienced researchers facing an increasingly competitive funding environment. SciCom editors also provide guidance to scientists in developing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication. In addition to editing services, SciCom offers grant applicants assistance with project management, budget development, and forms completion.

We invite you to further browse the SciCom website to explore the services we offer and to learn about the expertise of our Staff. Also, please visit the Resources page.
